Google Career Certificate Program
In October of 2022, I completed the Google Career Certificate Program Google UX Design Professional. 3 projects were assigned; 1 Dedicated Mobile App, 1 Responsive Website, and 1 Product with both a Dedicated Mobile App & a Responsive Website.
Project 1
Photographer's Point of Sale App
The Problem:
Mobile POS Apps are unreliable in areas without WIFI or Cellular Services.
The Solution:
I created the Photographer's Point of Sale App, which features an Invoicing system with multiple payment options.
Paper WireFrames
I drew up some ideas for the HomeScreen and decided to design the app from the Client-User's view (an individual looking to find and book a photographer).
Digital WireFrames
Using Figma, I drafted my first WireFrames for the main user flow. The goal is for the user to be able to find, chat with, book, pay, and review a photographer.
User Persona
Mockups
Usability Study Findings
The main takeaway from this usability study was the need for more options on the HomeScreen. But, the majority of users liked the simplicity of it as well. So I decided to add filter options to the search on the HomeScreen and keep the rest within the hamburger menu.

Photographer's Point of Sale App
What I Learned
The Photographers Point of Sale App was my first UX Design project. Through the process of designing this product I learned how to effectively use the design tool Figma, how to conduct a competitive audit, and run a usability study.
The most interesting part to me was discovering a legitimate user need that isn't currently being met by the products on the market and being able to use those insights to design a product to meet that need.
Project 2
Summit Sweets
The Problem:
Summit Sweets is a small Cafe and Bakery in a rural area, whose customers have expressed a need for the option to place orders online.
The Solution:
I redesigned their existing website to accommodate online ordering and made it responsive to any device their customers would access it from.
Paper - Digital WireFrames
User Persona
Interviews were held with 5 customers of Summit Sweets. I created the persona "Rob" to represent them.
SiteMap
I outlined the intended features of the website in a basic sitemap.
Mockups
Adobe XD was used to create the Digital WireFrames, Mockups, and Prototypes for this product.
Final Product
Summit Sweets
What I Learned
During this project, I learned how to design with Graceful Degradation and was introduced to Adobe XD. I followed the Design Thinking process for the second time and started becoming more confident in my design decisions.
Designing for a small business was a great opportunity to get to know the real end-users of a product. This was my first experience where I got to feel like my designs could positively impact real people.
Project 3
TruFudi
The Problem:
For the final project, we were given the prompt to create a product for social good, which would include a Dedicated Mobile App and a Complementary Responsive Website. I chose to address the problem of a lack of reliable information about Restaraunt Menus for people with Food Allergies and specific Dietary Preferences.
The Solution:
TruFudi is my concept for a Peer-Generated Menu tool. Users will have the ability to add meal combinations to the Peer Menu of a given Restaurant. As well as, leave reviews for Restaurants based on their options for people with Allergies and Dietary Preferences. This Peer-Menu would eliminate the uncertainty of whether a Restaurant is being honest with their options or not.
Foundational Research
I researched to gather quantitative data on Food Allergies and Dietary preferences in the US and some Demographics for the people who identify as Vegan or Vegetarian. I used this data to create two User Personas.
Personas
WireFrames
Figma was used for this projects WireFrames, Mockups, and Prototypes.
I chose to use the method of Progressive Enhancement for this project and began designing the Dedicated Mobile App first.
Mockups
Startup and Account Creation
Main User Flow

Final Mockups
Final Product
A Responsive Website was designed to include all of the functions and features of the Mobile App, to be viewed on Desktop, Tablet, and Phone.
TruFudi
What I Learned
In this final project, I followed the Design Thinking process for the third time and felt truly comfortable in accomplishing each step. I continued to self-study more creative ways to utilize the design tools within Figma and became more confident in my creative choices.
The prompt for this project was to "Design a product for social good" on any subject of our choosing. I chose to create TruFudi out of a genuine need that I have myself, and that I've known many others to have. Solving a real-world problem that's affected me and others close to me was a really exciting experience. The research aspect of this process was particularly fun for me. I learned a lot about Food Allergies and the incretion of Veganism in the states, as well as some of the environmental laws that hold restaurants accountable for their waste. Working on these subjects left me feeling very accomplished, and I hope I'll have the opportunity to work on them again in the future.
